CHAMBER OF WONDERS

2014 Graduate Exhibition of the Department of Architecture and the Interior Architecture Program
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
with Prof. Hansjürg Buchmeier

Client: Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
Location: Kunsthalle Lucerne, Switzerland

Date: 2014

The ,Chamber of Wonders’ exhibition presents outstanding graduation projects from the Department of Architecture and the Interior Architecture Program. Working closely with Prof. Hansjürg Buchmeier, Nadine Jerchau was in charge of the conception, curation and design of the annual show.

For once, the facade of the Kunsthalle acts not only a transparent glazed partition, but also works as filtering membrane built out of piled display cases. Although they appear randomly stacked, the careful composition of these black presentation boxes allows for a wide variety of situations: opening to the exterior, forming closed niches, looking through to the Kunsthalle or framing selected views. Architectural models are exhibited in the display cases. The installation mediates between inside and outside, between Kunsthalle visitors and Bourbaki Panorama guests, enticing passersby with unexpected views into the architectural production of the school.
