LOOKING INWARDS

2012 Annual Exhibition of the Department of Architecture
Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
with Prof. Hansjürg Buchmeier

Client: Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
Location: Kunsthalle Lucerne, Switzerland

Date: 2012

The exhibition is takes an inward look at the Department of Architecture’s large studio space, which offers students a fantastic panoramic view of the lake of Lucerne and the Alps of Central Switzerland with the peaks of Mounts Pilatus and Rigi. Selected pieces of the newly acquired furniture collection act as a starting point for the design while simultaneously underlining the multifunctional creative studio character of the exhibition. This furnished space was occasionally used for teaching sessions, even as the exhibition remained open for visitors.

Abstract black lines stretch like a net over the floor, walls and ceiling of the Kunsthalle, creating the illusion of floating spatial objects. This playful network of perspectives frames viewing windows that showcase unconventional aspects of the department of architecture with prints and projections. The physical space unfolds into other dimensions.
